Every weekend, we go through the fixture list so you don't have to.
Like vinyl at a garage sale, we've flipped through several copies of Rick Springfield's Working Class Dog to find the good stuff for you this weekend.
If you're like me, you like to plan your weekend around the soccer situation and then sprinkle in a little family time, some chores, maybe a few small beers.
But importantly, you need the pillars to lean on. You need to know when you might want to be on the couch for back-to-back barn-burners like Celtic-Rangers into West Ham-Arsenal into Barcelona-Real Madrid.
That's like "Paranoid Android" into "Subterranean Homesick Alien" into "Exit Music (For A Film)".
Here's your weekend.
The Fixture
Saturday
- Liverpool vs Chelsea — Sat, 7:30 a.m. ET · NBCSN / Peacock
- In spite of the fact that Chelsea haven't scored in five straight games, and every week it feels like Arne Slot is justifying his job. It's red vs blue. It's Liverpool hosting Chelsea.
- Middlesbrough vs Southampton — Sat, 7:30 a.m. ET · CBS Sports Network / Paramount+
- Middlesbrough just caught a Southampton staff member filming their training from the bushes, and Southampton have been nicked by the FA. So you know, I'm sure the Smoggies will take that well and be very inviting.
- Sunderland vs Manchester United — Sat, 10:00 a.m. ET · Peacock
- Granit Xhaka will live forever and Manchester United might have a tougher time against Sunderland than they think.
- Manchester City vs Brentford — Sat, 12:30 p.m. ET · NBC / Telemundo
- The other half of the PL title race, Man City need wins, but Brentford is a tough, well-coached squad pushing for European competition next season.
- Lecce vs Juventus — Sat, 2:45 p.m. ET · Paramount+
- Listen, this is not the most compelling matchup of the weekend, with Lecce bordering relegation and Juventus can't win the Scudetto, Inter already have. But anytime Kenan Yildiz is playing, I try to watch. Could be one of the breakout starts of the WC this summer.
- Motherwell vs Hearts — Sat, 3:00 p.m. ET · Paramount+
- Hearts are top of the table after defeating Rangers last week. Good time to jump on the wagon because there are two games left. This is a good precursor to what could decide the title when Celtic take on Hearts in the last week of the season.
- FC Dallas vs Real Salt Lake — Sat, 8:30 p.m. ET · Apple TV
- RSL is a great watch. Keep an eye on Zavier Gozo, the 19 year old has three goals this season already. On FCD, former Benfica striker Petar Musa has 10 goals in 10 games. He'll also feature for Croatia this summer.
- SJ Earthquakes vs Vancouver Whitecaps — Sat, 10:30 p.m. ET · Apple TV
- The two top teams in the west. San Jose has been on an absolute heater this season, and now they meet a team playing great soccer that might be in Las Vegas sooner than later.
Sunday
- Celtic vs Rangers — Sun, 7:00 a.m. ET · CBS Sports Network / Paramount+
- The Old Firm. An absolutely necessary win for Celtic if they want to keep up with Hearts.
- West Ham vs Arsenal — Sun, 11:30 a.m. ET · USA Network / Telemundo
- Arsenal technically can't win the PL title this weekend, but West Ham can almost certainly fall deeper into relegation territory if they lose and Spurs win. For the Gunners, keep an eye on if Myles Lewis-Skelly starts in midfield, he's been propped up by Arteta lately, and started against Atletico.
- Barcelona vs Real Madrid — Sun, 3:00 p.m. ET · ESPN / ESPN Deportes
- You'll certainly want to build your day around El Clásico. Real Madrid has players boxing each other and they're about to hire Jose Mourinho and Barca can win the title against their bitter rivals with a W.
- Minnesota United vs Austin FC — Sun, 7:00 p.m. ET · Apple TV
- Austin FC welcomed back Owen Wolff and Brandon Vasquez last week. The latter had a rough road to recovery the last year, and here's hoping he finds his form for a USMNT spot.
- Pumas UNAM vs Club América — Sun, 9:15 p.m. ET · Paramount+ / TUDN / Univision / ViX
- Soccer after dark. Liga MX teams just dispatched MLS from the CONCACAF Champions Cup, now they have their playoffs. The series is tied 3-3 on aggregate, but Pumas is the higher seed and will move on if this also ends in a tie.
Here's the whole list of fixtures.
