There are 158 teams in USL League Two across 20 divisions, in places like Hattiesburg and Kalamazoo and San Juan Capistrano.

Formerly called the Premier Development League and rebranded by USL in 2019. The history is long, illustrious and full of local tradition and flair.

The players are mostly college-age and maintain amateur status by playing in the "pre-professional" league, spending their summers chasing a ball around municipal fields for the love of the thing. It's pure, genuine competition.

In 2026, 25 new teams were added to their ranks. Something that I think is indicative of the growth of football culture in the USA.

Find Your Team

USL League Two's 2026 season started May 3. Many games are streamed. The full schedule and streams are at uslleaguetwo.com.

Go watch the Lobos play the Toucans on a Wednesday night in June, then tell me you don't love football more afterwards.

One of these 158 clubs is yours. Go find it.

Natural Greats

Names that just work. They sound like they've been stitched into scarves for a century.

Academica SC, AC Houston Sur, Annapolis Blues FC, Atlético Unión, Ballard FC, Bangers FC, Black Rock FC, Capo FC, Charlottesville Blues FC, Dayton Dutch Lions FC, Des Moines Menace, East Atlanta FC, Edgewater Castle FC, Flint City Bucks, Hickory FC, Lionsbridge FC, Little Rock Rangers, Long Island Rough Riders, Nona FC, Red River FC, RKC Third Coast, West Seattle Junction FC, Western Mass Pioneers

Fever Dreams

The names that make you stop scrolling. Some of these are pure poetry and I absolutely love it.

  • Sueño FC - Sueño means "dream" in Spanish. Enough said.
  • Tobacco Road FC - Tell me you don't hear an Allman Brothers guitar lick when you read this team's name.
  • Vermont Green FC - So sincere it wraps all the way back around to genuinely cool. Also the 2025 league champions.
  • Ocean City Nor'easters - In all honesty, one of the strongest mascots on the entire list.

Appalachian FC, Brave SC, Flatirons FC, Fort Worth Vaqueros FC, Hill Country Lobos, Louisiana Krewe FC, Lubbock Matadors SC, Philadelphia Lone Star FC, River Light FC, San Francisco Glens SC, Santafé Wanderers FC, St. Croix Legends, Steel City FC, Sunflower State FC

Cryptid Zenith

Mysterious, mythological or just downright unhinged.

  • Christos FC - The origin story is the club needed money to start in the late '90s and was propped up by a local liquor store of the same name. Named after a liquor store, yes, awesome, but also sounds like a Greek warrior.
  • Jackson Boom - I have to be honest, I misread this as "Broom" the first time and I was elated. They still get the points.
  • Twin City Toucans - Phenomenal name. No notes.
  • Shark Coast FC - I don't know where Shark Coast is, but also please tell me where.
  • Denton Diablos - The devil, heat, alliteration. Triumphant.
  • Project 51O - This is a reference to the Oakland ZIP code, but it's giving Alien. One of the most unique names on the list.
  • Apotheos FC - Strong name, in reference to Greek mythology, but could also be an evil pharmaceutical company in a sci-fi film.
  • Lorain County Leviathan FC - Maybe this is a reference to Lake Erie. Maybe it's a reference to a whale. It doesn't matter.
  • Bigfoot FC - Harry and the Hendersons would be proud.
  • McKinney Chupacabras FC - The apex cryptid of the whole group. I don't care what Bigfoot has to say, I'm rooting for the blood-sucking folkloric creature from hell
