Pumas advance to the Liga MX Clausura semifinals after a wild 3-3 draw with Club América at the Olímpico Universitario on Sunday night.

The aggregate finished 6-6 across the two legs, but Pumas, the regular-season table-toppers, move on as the higher seed.

It looked like it would never be that close.

Pumas scored inside two minutes through Rubén Duarte, doubled the lead through a Nathan Silva header on 12, and made it 3-0 inside half an hour with Jordan Carrillo finishing off a counterattack.

América were dead on aggregate.

Then Brian Salas pulled one back off a corner, Alex Zendejas converted two penalties, and the second leg was tied 3-3, meaning América still needed a winner.

They got their chance late: Ramón Juárez was kicked in the head in the box at 83', Henry Martín stepped up at 87', and hit the woodwork.

Pumas advance. They face Pachuca, who beat Toluca 1-0 and 2-0, in the semifinals.
