It feels decadent, almost gluttonous, to have watched 72 games over the course of two weeks and change, including an almost-hallucinatory 24 games the last four days. It was a satisfying cross-pollination of the beautiful game, but now it's time to get down to business. Going forward, it's do-or-die, win and you move on, lose and you go home. The 2026 World Cup round of 32 is set and begins on Sunday, June 28.

Brazil vs Japan - Mon June 29, 1:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- Japan present high possession, lots of pressing with few actual sequences. They're also one of the most disciplined teams at the tourney, low fouls, low cards, but get fouled a ton. Every one of their goals has been assisted.
- Brazil leads with flair and not much grit, so if Japan goes up 1-0, the samba turns to panic and the whole thing goes to hell in a handbasket, for good or bad.
Netherlands vs Morocco - Mon June 29, 9:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- The Dutch go straight and fast (18 of 35 long balls landed on Sweden), they also tend to play high-possession, but they have shown they are malleable. Brobbey hitting at the right time.
- Morocco grew into the group week by week. According to FIFA data, they have the fourth most sprints in the tourney so far. The Atlas Lions were highly tactical against Brazil: committing 14 fouls with no cards.
Germany vs Paraguay - Mon June 29, 4:30 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- Germany is ball-dominant and pass-heavy (61 percent possession and 500-plus passes a game).
- Alfaro's Paraguay doesn't play football so much as inflict it. They play with a deep block and hold their shape. Germany will have the ball for 70 minutes and a headache for 90.
Ivory Coast vs Norway - Tue June 30, 1:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- Ivory Coast bolts the door (one goal conceded in the group) and has Yan Diomande barreling down the wing at unthinkable speeds.
- Haaland is a six-foot-four bull in a china shop who's capable of running away with a game.
Mexico vs Ecuador - Tue June 30, 9:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- The tightest matchup on the board and the Azteca crowd may be the ultimate decider. Mexico have yet to concede a goal in the World Cup, and they are an absolute blast to watch.
- Ecuador conceded only two goals in the group stage, but scored only three. They have speed, strength and Moises Caicedo as general.

Belgium vs Senegal - Wed July 1, 4:00 p.m. ET · FS1 / Telemundo
- Both teams ride into town on stallions, having each scored five goals in their last group stage games.
England vs DR Congo - Wed July 1, 12:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- England is supposed to be better, but DR Congo has the belief. The winner plays Mexico (or Ecuador) at the Azteca.
Portugal vs Croatia - Thu July 2, 7:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- Portugal are one of the most talented teams in the world. Vitinha is a wizard. But neither of these teams have quite found their form. Well, now's the time.
Switzerland vs Algeria - Thu July 2, 11:00 p.m. ET · FS1 / Telemundo
- Algeria looked like one of the most fun teams in the tournament against Austria. Switzerland is a slow, methodical beast.
USA vs Bosnia - Wed July 1, 8:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- USA have run the most of any team in the competition. Bosnia have 5 goals on 2.73 xG.
South Africa vs Canada - Sun June 28, 3:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- The first game out of the gate. Canada gets Alphonso Davies back. Bafana Bafana gets a chance to upset a host.

France vs Sweden - Tue June 30, 5:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- France have basically looked unstoppable. No one thought Sweden would make it to the tournament, but here they are in the knockouts.
Spain vs Austria - Thu July 2, 3:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- Austria will run you down and then score. Spain has the most complete offense in the WC so far.
Australia vs Egypt - Fri, July 3, 2:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- Socceroos made it to the knockout rounds after scoring only two goals. Egypt defeated Australia's neighbors New Zealand.
Argentina vs Cape Verde - Fri July 3, 6:00 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- Cape Verde are one of the stories of the tournament, and now they get to meet Messi in the round of 32.
Colombia vs Ghana - Fri July 3, 9:30 p.m. ET · FOX / Telemundo
- Ghana only won a single game and Colombia are coming off a draw with Portugal.
